These procedures are designed to correct congenital or trauma-induced nasal deformities, enhancing the overall harmony between the noce and the face. As F.Bacon once said ,, A beautiful face is a silent recommendation’’. The face serves as a person’s buisness card, with the nose being its central and most prominent feature. The shape of the nose can dramatically alter one’s facial expression. For instance, a hooked nose may create an aged appearance, while a more refined nose can bring a youthful and vibrant look, and post-traumatic nose may convey a more aggressive tone.
BEFORE THE SURGERY
During the consultation, a comprehesnsive analysis of the patient’s nose and face is conducted. This includes evaluating the profile, tip deflection, possible carveture of nasal axis, and the width of the nose. He angles between the lips and nose, as well as the nasal-frontal angles, are also assessed.
For the best surgical outcome, it is crucial that both the patieint and surgeon have clear, mutual understanding of the expected results. The concultation involces digital photography, computer simulation of the potential surgical outcomes, a review of the patient’s respiratory history, and a detailed nasal examination.
OPERATION
The surgery is carried out through incisions inside the nasal mucosa (Fig. 1). In more complex cases, an additional incision is made in the nasal septum (Fig. 2). During the procedure, adjustments are made to the cartilage at the tip of the nose or to correct bone-cartilage deformities, and a special patch and splint are applied to help maintain the desired shape of the nose while the bones heal.
OPERATIONAL RISK
As with any procedure, nasal correcion may lead to unwanted side effects, such as reactions to anesthesia, eye irritation, postoperative pain, or wound infection. You can discuss potential complications or other concerns with the plastic surgeon during the consultation.
POST-OPERATIVE PERIOD
Healing typically takes several weeks, with the spint being removed after one week. Bruising typically lasts around two weeks, while swelling may persist a bit longer. It is important to avoid any nasal trauma for 3-4 months, although physical activity can be resumed 2-3 weeks after surgery. The final aesthetic result becomes evident once healing is complete, which can take 1.5 years, though noticeable changes in shape can be seen almost immediately after surgery.
The effects of operation are long-lasting.
